Ben has been formally improvising since 2008, beginning at iO West, and studying under Scott Robinson, Irene White, Dave Hill, Craig Cackowski and Derek Miller. He stumbled upon The Improv Space shortly after that time to participate in the wildest competitive improv show happening at the time - J.D. Walsh's Xecution - where he was humbled with a runner up award. Shortly after, Ben auditioned for an Improv Space mainstage team, studied with Danny Lampson and Dan Oster - and quickly came to find his theater home. For over five years, Ben has served as host of The Improv Sessions - a long form improv jam that he helped establish, which has continued to bring new life to the theater. Ben has studied with Miles Stroth, Brian O'Connell, Rich Talarico, Matt Young, Greg Tuculescu, Todd Fasen, and a smattering of coaches and peers over the years. One day, he may even finish UCB, if he ever finds the time.
Ben performs regularly around town - and likes to give handshakes. You can find him online at heckbender.com. Don't let the beard fool you - Ben is in no way an intellectual. Hi Claudio!
