Los Angeles, CA - April 26, 2018The Improv Space has always been dedicated to the performance, schooling, and advancement of improvisational comedy. With these goals in mind, Artistic Director, Ashley Opstad, worked hard with the leadership team to expand the roster of coaches and teachers, create clear policies and procedures, and establish a culture of inclusivity.

The Improv Space theater is thankful for Ashley and all that she has accomplished! Now, she will be stepping down as AD to take on the role as Creative Director as she continues to perform with 400 Cat. Starting in June, Director of Education and fellow Friday Night Mainstage player, Darren Lanning, will be taking over as AD.

Darren has been part of this theater when it first began and well before with Ultimate Improv. He has been performing in Westwood with some version of this theater for over 15 years. As Director of Education, Darren dedicated countless hours taking care of our program - organizing, scheduling, and honing our curriculum to better reflect our specific brand of improv.

Congratulations to Darren and thank you Ashley for everything!

We’re very excited for this new chapter of TIS history and we hope you are too!
